Pickleball at Lake Norman, North Carolina

Lake Norman has one of the Charlotte region's strongest pickleball corridors. Bailey Road Park supplies 10 free, lighted public courts with a full weekly open-play schedule, The Serve offers 16 indoor and outdoor courts, and Lake Norman Pickleball Club adds dedicated indoor play in Mooresville.

Where to Play Pickleball at Lake Norman

Bailey Road Park

11536 Bailey Road, Cornelius, NC 28031. The park has 10 dedicated, lighted outdoor pickleball courts with permanent nets. Public play is free and first-come outside reserved blocks. All-level open play runs Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Intermediate-plus players above 3.25 use Monday and Friday from 6 to 9 p.m.; beginners and advanced beginners below 3.25 have Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. No registration is required, and players bring their own paddles.

The Serve Pickleball + Kitchen

20220 Chartown Drive, Cornelius, NC 28031. The Serve has 10 indoor and six outdoor courts plus open play, leagues, player blocks, clinics, private lessons, a restaurant, cafe, and bar. Membership is not required. Hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Holbrook Park

100 Sherwood Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078. Holbrook provides dedicated outdoor hard courts with permanent nets, lights, restrooms, and water. Five courts support open play and three can be reserved through Huntersville Parks and Recreation for $10 per hour.

Lake Norman Pickleball Club

140 Raceway Drive, Mooresville, NC 28117. This dedicated indoor club supports court reservations, open play, leagues, and tournaments. It is the strongest north-lake option for weather-proof competitive play.

Pickleball Lessons at Lake Norman

The Lake Norman Pickleball Association partners with Cornelius Parks and Recreation on lessons and clinics at Bailey Road Park. Members receive free or reduced-price educational clinics along with skill-based play and leagues.

The Serve offers beginner clinics and one-hour private lessons for $75. Semi-private lessons for two players are $50 per person; five-session packages cost $337.50 private or $225 per person semi-private. Additional regional instructors are listed in the Coaches section.

Leagues and Tournaments

The Lake Norman Pickleball Association runs member leagues by rating, reserved open play, clinics, socials, and tournaments around Cornelius, Huntersville, Davidson, Mooresville, and Denver. The 2026 Fall Classic is scheduled for October 17-18 at Bailey Road Park in Cornelius.

The Serve hosts leagues and community tournaments throughout the year. Its next major announced business event is the Lake Norman Chamber's Dink, Drive & Network tournament on January 19, 2027, from 5 to 9 p.m.; entry is $80 per player and includes pickleball, Topgolf competition, a reception, and awards. Registration closes January 10.

Bailey Road Park is the best first stop for a player arriving alone because its published skill blocks remove guesswork. Wednesday evening is specifically for players below 3.25, while Monday and Friday evenings suit stronger intermediate players. Bring a paddle and outdoor balls. Use The Serve for guaranteed indoor play, equipment, meals, and lessons; use Lake Norman Pickleball Club when staying near Mooresville. Holbrook is the practical public choice on the south side of the lake.
